Beneficiaries and Taxes

As executor or trustee, you're responsible only for the tax returns of the deceased person and the estate or trust. The beneficiaries are on their own--but that probably won't stop them from coming to you with tax questions. Sometimes they may need to go to an expert for an answer, but you can point them toward the broad rules.
